Election of the Board of Directors 26/27

Queen’s, 

The following message serves as a formal update on the election and appointment of the 2026–27 AMS Board of Directors.

The Board of Directors plays a key role in shaping how the AMS operates behind the scenes. Each year, students have the opportunity to sit with the Executives and Community Directors to directly influence how the organization is run. The Board oversees major financial decisions, risk-management, and long-term planning to help ensure the AMS operates sustainably; supporting student life at Queen’s for years to come.

This year, students interested in joining the Board submitted applications that were reviewed by the outgoing Vice-Chair of the Board, the incoming President, the outgoing VP OPS, and the General Manager. In accordance with AMS Bylaw 3.3.2, all applicants went through a formal nomination and interview process to ensure those brought forward for election were qualified, capable, and prepared to serve students effectively on the Board.

 

For the 1-year Student Directors (2026-27) the AMS Assembly voted on the following: 

Congratulations to Kay Hartwick Kin ‘27, and Yara Bashoory Commerce ‘27

 

For the 2-Year Student Directors (2026-28) the AMS Assembly voted on the following:

Congratulations to Areeb Shekhani Computing ‘28, and Sehnoor Klare ArtSci ‘29.

 

In accordance with Part 5 of the AMS Board Policy Manual, the election of the Chairperson of the Board is conducted by the outgoing Chair, provided they will not remain a member of the Board in the subsequent year. This year’s election was conducted at the discretion of outgoing Chairperson, Eshal Ali HealthSci ’27. All incoming Board members were provided with the resumes of those seeking to lead and were given forty-eight hours to vote. These are the results:

 

Sienna Marshall ArtSci ‘28 has been elected Chairperson of the Board of Directors,

Areeb Shekhani Computing ‘28 has been elected Vice-Chairperson of the Board of Directors.

 

Congratulations to all Incoming Directors and Board Leadership. Over the coming years, these student directors will help guide key decisions related to the organization’s governance, financial oversight, and long-term direction on behalf of the student body.
