A Farewell from the Communications Team

As the year comes to a close, the Communications Team would like to take a moment to celebrate the incredible contributions of our members and reflect on the experiences that made this year so memorable. From creativity to community, our team has grown together while making a meaningful impact on Queen’s students. This is a heartfelt goodbye from all of us who bring the blogs to life!

Alissa Qu: Creativity in Every Word

Second-year Health Sciences student Alissa Qu has brought creativity and passion to our team through her writing. Alissa loved the supportive environment, where feedback was welcomed, ideas were encouraged, and collaboration felt natural.

Whether snowboarding, drawing, or baking, Alissa brings a dynamic energy to everything she does. She particularly enjoyed the freedom to explore different writing styles, from informative blogs to humorous and casual pieces.

Alissa joined the team to meet new people and expand her writing skills, and she accomplished exactly that. Her contributions have left a lasting mark, and we are grateful for her creativity and dedication.

Ramneek Dhillon: Connecting Through Community

First-year Health Sciences student Ramneek Dhillon embraced the sense of community that defines our team. She valued the trust, creative freedom, and collaborative spirit that made her work feel meaningful and impactful.

Outside of the team, Ramneek loves photography, spending time outdoors, and visiting the Kingston pier. One of her favorite memories was introducing students to J the Duck, whether through blogs or events, a fun way to connect the AMS mascot with our campus community.

Ramneek joined the team to connect more with Queen’s and find a creative outlet. Through her work, she strengthened her sense of belonging and contributed to projects that engaged students across campus.

Christina Wang: Sharing Knowledge, Inspiring Others

First-year Health Sciences student Christina Wang has brought curiosity and creativity to the team. She loved learning more about Queen’s services while researching for her blogs, and hopes her work helped students navigate campus life.

Christina enjoys drawing, solving NYT Connections, and reading horror and fantasy novels. She joined the team to make information more accessible to students, and her contributions have helped others feel informed, connected, and supported.

Lina Rhissa: Leadership and Campus Connection

Third-year Politics and History student Lina Rhissa has been an incredible Deputy Director, bringing enthusiasm and care to every project. She valued the team’s welcoming culture, strong teamwork, and the chance to share campus resources and events with students.

Lina enjoys reading, singing, and nature walks. She joined the team to become more involved in campus affairs, and she did just that, making connections, exploring new opportunities, and leaving a lasting impact on both the team and our community.

Vani Nayyar: Creativity and Community in Action

Second-year Life Sciences student Vani Nayyar has contributed as a Senior Communications Volunteer, bringing creativity, collaboration, and leadership to the team. Vani loved the welcoming and open environment, where ideas could be expressed freely.

She enjoys reading, learning new languages, and baking. One of her favorite experiences was designing volunteer merchandise for Volunteer Appreciation, using her graphics skills to create quarter-zips that left a lasting impression.

Vani joined the team to get more involved with the AMS and Queen’s community. Through this role, she gained valuable skills, made new friends, and deepened her connection to campus life. Her  contributions will be remembered for years to come.

Roxanne Cheung: Communication from Art to the Heart

Second-year Life Science student Roxanne Cheung contributes to the team through her work on the website, newsletter, and more. With a strong background in art, she brings creativity into everything she does! Whether painting, drawing, or designing graphics—using visual expression to enhance communication within her communities.

In this role, she uses her creativity to help the AMS connect with the student body in a meaningful and engaging way.

Mae Sacamay: Leadership that Made a Difference

Fourth-year Linguistics student Mae served as Director of Communications, bringing thoughtfulness, organization, and a calm presence to the team. Inspired by her passion for how language shapes connection, she truly Made a Difference.

Her impact will be remembered for strengthening student engagement by expanding blog posts and newsletters, ensuring students stayed up to date with the latest events. Through consistent follow-up and collaboration across commissions, she helped elevate outreach efforts. She also worked closely with the AMS’ various stakeholders, always focused on improving campus life. And outside of her work, you could often find her spending time with her two cats!

Executive Assistants: Media Hosseiny, Pauline Usuanlele, Ariel Jo, and Melanie Nguyen

These team members are the front line of the AMS! The first people you reach when you call or send a message. They support student, Student Connections, and commission inquiries, ensuring everything is handled efficiently and professionally. Without them, connecting with the AMS wouldn’t be nearly as seamless.

They’re much more than assistants. Alongside scheduling, they manage inquiries, coordinate across teams, and take on a wide range of responsibilities that keep operations running smoothly. Their hard work doesn’t go unnoticed. It’s what keeps the workplace organized, efficient, and running at its best. It will be missed for their each bright and welcoming personalities.

We want to thank everyone for their hard work, creativity, and dedication. The Communications Team has grown stronger because of the talent, energy, and passion each person brought.
