AMS Strategy

The AMS Strategy sets out where we’re going and how we’re working to get there. Through our 2025–2028 Strategic Plan and annual Executive Roadmap, we establish long-term organizational priorities alongside clear goals for the year ahead. Together, these plans help guide our work, measure our progress, and keep you informed about what your student government is working toward.

OUR VISION

To serve and represent the diversity of students at Queen’s University.

Strategic Goals

Together, these goals will guide the AMS through 2028 and provide a framework for measuring our progress as an organization:

Strengthen Supports for AMS-Ratified Clubs

Make it easier for clubs to operate and succeed by simplifying processes, reducing administrative barriers, improving access to information and digital tools, and creating more opportunities for feedback.

Redefine Transition & Training for Student Leaders

Better prepare incoming student leaders by improving transition processes, streamlining training resources, focusing on immediate needs, and evaluating progress.

Strengthen AMS Branding & Increase Awareness

Improve how students recognize, understand, and engage with the AMS through clearer communications, an improved digital presence, greater visibility on campus, and data-informed decision-making.

Strengthen Our Governing Bodies

Build more accountable, transparent, and sustainable student governance by improving recruitment, engagement, training, transitions, elections, and governance structures.

Our Goals for 2026-2027

While the Strategic Plan establishes the long-term direction of the AMS, the Executive Roadmap outlines what your elected Executive is working toward this year.

The 2026–27 Executive Roadmap is organized around five pillars:

Affordability

Working and advocating to save students money and time while improving equitable access to opportunities and resources.

Engagement
Creating memorable student experiences and spaces that support safety, inclusion, equity, sustainability, and a high-quality education.

Accountability
Responding to student needs, strengthening governance and being transparent about the AMS’s progress and performance.

Workplace & Environment
Creating a productive, positive and inclusive workplace for AMS staff and volunteers.

Finance
Improving financial practices and exercising responsible stewardship of student dollars while addressing the AMS Operating Deficit.

The Roadmap was informed by student feedback, AMS surveys and reports, consultations with outgoing student leaders and campus partners, and discussions with the 2026–27 Senior Management team.

These priorities were shaped by student feedback, campus-wide surveys and reports, consultations with student leaders and campus partners, and discussions with the AMS Senior Management team. The Roadmap is also a commitment to transparency, giving you a way to understand what your Executive is working toward and hold us accountable for our progress throughout the year.
