Winter 2025 Elections Proclamation
Dear students,
Congratulations to everyone for nearly reaching the end of the Fall term!
Please consider this proclamation as an official notice in advance of the Winter 2025 Elections & Referenda, which will be taking place in January!
In Winter 2025, the Elections and Referenda season will consist of the following:
- A Fee Referendum, to continue, increase or establish new student activity fees.
Starting today, if you and/or your group are wishing to establish or increase your fee, please note that the deadline to submit your validation form and budget is November 29th, 2024, at noon.

- Alma Mater Society Executive Election:
The Executive of the Society consists of the President, the Vice-President (Operations), and the Vice-President (University Affairs). Their primary duties are to uphold the mandate of the AMS in all actions of the Society. The AMS Executive Team’s leadership is motivated to serve the diverse student body with their respective portfolios.
The President is responsible for the external representation of the AMS and is ultimately accountable for ensuring the fulfillment of the Society’s mandate and mission.
They oversee:
- Student Life Centre
- Marketing and Communications Office
- Internal Affairs Office
- Human resource Office
- Information Technology Office
The Vice President (Operations) is responsible for all day-to-day operational and financial matters of the Society. They oversee all AMS services, the AMS Health & Dental Plan, the Bus-It program, and the consolidated budget of the Society.
The services they oversee:
- The Common Ground Coffee House
- AMS Foodbank
- Walkhome
- StuCons
- AMS Media Centre
- The Peer Support Centre
- Tricolour Outlet
- The Queen’s Journal
- Queen’s Pub Restaurant & Bar
The Vice President (University Affairs) is responsible for all Society matters of a political and/or educational nature, research and policy development, internal academic issues, and university administration affairs.
They oversee:
- the Campus Affairs Commission
- Commission of External Affairs,
- Social Issues (Internal & External) Commission
- Environmental Sustainability Commission
- Orientation Roundtable
These positions are members of Senior Management, and voting members of Assembly, considered full-time from May 1 until April 30 of the following year. All executive positions will be elected as individuals from the student body at large.
