There’s something special brewing in Kingston, and it’s not just your usual latte. This fall, a Queen’s University student has teamed up with Lay Low Café, located on 241 Princess St, to create a drink that’s as meaningful as it is delicious: the Pear & Cardamom Matcha with Cream Cheese Cold Foam.

The collaboration, done in partnership with a local Queen’s Student, blends warm spice, creamy sweetness, and the subtle fruitiness of pear for a cozy, elevated twist on a café favourite. But beyond the dreamy flavour combo, there’s an even sweeter reason to stop by! 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Sexual Assault Centre (SAC) Kingston, a not-for-profit organization providing free, confidential, non-judgmental support for survivors, regardless of gender identity, of recent or historic sexual violence in Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington.
Naveini is in her second year of computer science here at Queen’s. She is from Scarborough, and most importantly, she loves Matcha! She started posting content on Tiktok last year, gaining over 4,000 followers. She shares a variety of different videos such as lifestyle content, advice for incoming high school students, and a Day in the Life of a Queen’s Student.

“It kind of just kicked off, and now I have a Matcha collab with Lay Low.” Naveini says with a smile.
She eexplains that after coming to university and talking with her peers about sexual assault, she began to understand just how many people experience it, and how deeply alone it can make them feel. “A moment that was taken away from you, should not define the rest of your life.”
That’s why the resources that the Sexual Assault Centre (SAC) Kingston provides — such as therapy and counselling — are so important to the community.
This collaboration is all about community care. Supporting local cafés and empowering charities like SAC Kingston means every sip goes toward creating a more connected, compassionate city. Pop by Lay Low Café and get yourself a sweet treat! Grab the limited-edition Pear & Cardamom Matcha with Cream Cheese Cold Foam, available through November 2025!
Come sip, support, and make a difference — one matcha at a time!
