Advocacy

At the Social Issues Commission, advocacy isn’t just policy—it’s people. While the SIC-Internal sits on various senior level equity groups (such as PAGGAS, NDTR Steering Committee, SVPR Task Force, SEEC and UCARE), we need to ensure that SIC-led advocacy does not encapsulate only one identity. Our initiatives are built to amplify diverse perspectives, challenge systemic barriers, and push for equity with student voices are the centre of every step. Join us to turn passion into action and make Queen’s a more just, inclusive place for everyone.

Equity Townhall

Equity Townhall

A vital platform for students to share their experiences, concerns, and ideas directly with senior university administrators. By participating in small-group roundtables, students help shape policies, programs, and advocacy priorities that advance equity and inclusion at Queen’s.

Student Advocacy Committees

Equity Open House

The Student Advocacy Committees create spaces for students to collaborate on solutions to key equity issues at Queen’s, including academic barriers, anti-racism, accessibility, and more. These action-focused groups will serve as advisory committees to the Queen’s senior administration equity committees, bridging student lived experiences to propose initiatives and directly inform AMS and university advocacy efforts.

the next few blurbs will have an advocacy focus, so it should encourage students to partake in these advocacy initiatives to ensure their voices are heard within AMS and Queen’s initiatives.

Equity Caucus

Equity Caucus

The Equity Caucus brings together equity leaders from across campus—faculty societies, clubs, and student groups—to share resources, identify gaps, and push for collective advocacy. Whether you’re a rep or a passionate student leader, this is your chance to shape equity initiatives at the AMS and ensure diverse voices drive meaningful change.
