Campus Affairs Comissioner, Roan Haggerty-Goede (He/Him)
Hello everyone! My name is Roan Haggerty-Goede (He/Him), I’m going into my fourth year of the Health Sciences program, and I am this year’s AMS Campus Affairs Commissioner (CAC).
Student advocacy and the promotion of a vibrant student culture has always been a huge passion of mine. Starting in high school I became involved with student government through my roles as Student Trustee for the Kawartha Pine Ridge District and student council Vice-President. Continuing into university I have channeled my interests and excitement into other leadership positions including Vice-President Operations for the Health Sciences Society and as a Residence don among other. This year I hope to leverage my past experiences and help build and galvanize a strong on-campus culture through my work with the Campus Affairs portfolio.
The Campus Affairs Commission is a portfolio of the Alma mater Society committed to advocacy, engagement, harm reduction, and event-based initiatives catering to Queen’s University students and the broader Kingston community. Through various events and activities, the CAC aims to enrich student life on- and off-campus while implementing effective harm reduction strategies. For example, during higher activity periods such as Homecoming and St. Patrick’s Day the Campus Affairs Commission run harm reduction booths, giving out snacks, Gatorade, condoms, and so much more to ensure that students stay safe, hydrated, and happy. This year we also have a large focus on international affairs. Through my work with NEWTS orientation and the International Affairs Deputy we hope to foster a welcoming and accessible campus for all students.

Campus External Affairs Comissioner, Dreyden George (He/Him)
My passion for improving student engagement/advocacy, understanding economics and strategic governance, as well sustainability drives my enthusiasm for this commission. These fields intersect in powerful ways, allowing us to create lasting, meaningful change. Being part of a commission that helps shape external policy, help the VPUA in voicing student concerns/perspectives, and innovating on responsible governance aligns perfectly with my core interests within what I most look forward in being able to do through the Commission of External Affairs.
My excitement for this role is shaped by a deep commitment to integrating environmental considerations into economic and governance strategies. I am particularly excited about projects that involve collaborating with the City of Kingston on harm reduction initiatives and advocating for student interests at the municipal, provincial, and federal levels. These efforts not only address immediate concerns but also contribute to long-term sustainability and equity in our community.
I am also eager to work on initiatives like the Queen’s-Kingston Community Summit and the Housing Rights Week, which reflect the commitment to both community engagement and the promotion of fair housing practices. These projects offer an opportunity to apply strategic governance in ways that make a tangible difference.
