Hello potential future Alma Mater Society (AMS) First Year Interns! We understand that this process can feel a bit overwhelming, so we’ve put together this package to help guide you through it. Below, you’ll find an introduction to the team, along with a preview of the responsibilities you can expect as an intern. We hope it helps you feel more prepared and confident as you begin this exciting journey.

The President’s Intern
As the President, Jana Amer is responsible for the external representation of the AMS and for ensuring the organization fulfills its mandate to serve and advocate for over 20,000 undergraduate students. The President oversees the AMS’s offices and works closely with student leaders, university administration, and external partners to advance student priorities and maintain smooth operations. Jana is looking for an organized and creative intern to assist with credit card logistics, organize team socials, and participate in governance committees.

Campus Affairs Intern
As the Campus Affairs Commissioner, Ali Hussein and his team oversee programming and sanctioning in Events, International Affairs, and Harm Reduction to support a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable student experience. Ali is looking for an outgoing, detail-oriented and creative intern to contribute ideas to commission projects and share first-year perspectives to guide long-term planning. The intern will also have opportunities to shadow the Directors within the office, gaining insight into different areas of the portfolio.

Clubs Intern
As the Commissioner of Clubs, Xian Tronsgard facilitates the relationship between the AMS and its ratified clubs by offering grants, managing ratification, maintaining databases and policy, and hosting club-focused events. This work enables student clubs to operate effectively, access key resources, and build a stronger, more connected community. Xian is looking for an enthusiastic, organized intern to assist with club spotlight content, event logistics, calendar planning, and Club Manual review. Depending on the area of interest, the intern can also shadow inbox support and participate in graphic design processes.

Environmental Sustainability Intern
As Commissioner of Environmental Sustainability, Brooke Schmidt oversees staff portfolios, runs environmental events and workshops, manages community gardens, and advocates for sustainability within AMS policy. The commission works to promote environmental awareness and action across campus. Brooke is looking for a curious, outgoing intern to facilitate engagement and to sustainability education. The intern can explore different items under the Commission’s portfolio and take on projects that align with their interests.

Internal Affairs Office Intern
The Internal Affairs Office facilitates the operation of the rules, policies and procedures of the AMS as to help better guide the direction of the society as a whole. As Secretary of Internal Affairs, Emily Henrique oversees all governance operations, including elections, referenda, Assembly, and policy review committees. Emily is looking for a passionate, adaptable intern to support outreach and engagement efforts, especially with first-year students. Responsibilities include boothing for elections, assisting with marketing outreach, administrative duties, and providing feedback on governance materials.

External Affairs Office Intern
As Commissioner of External Affairs, Edlira leads advocacy efforts that connect students with decision-makers at the municipal, provincial, and federal levels. Her portfolio includes housing advocacy, academic equity, civic engagement, and oversight of the Housing Resource Centre and Academic Affairs Centre — spaces that support students navigating housing, petitions, and appeals. Edlira is looking for a curious, dependable intern to support outreach campaigns, assist with resource development, and contribute to events like Housing Advocacy Week and Meet Your Councillor booths.
Marketing Intern

As Director of Marketing, Nathan Zhe manages AMS branding and promotion across all major platforms, with a focus on engaging students through creative content and digital outreach. The Marketing office leads campaigns, designs visuals, and produces media that highlight AMS services and events. Nathan is looking for a passionate, curious intern to support content creation through boothing, video shoots, photoshoots, and graphic design. If you’re excited about marketing, eager to try new things, or just want to learn and create alongside a fun, talented team, this is your chance to dive in!
Queen’s Journal Interns
As Editors-in-Chief of The Queen’s Journal, Meghrig Milkon and Sarah Adams oversee the operations of North America’s longest-running student newspaper, publishing twice weekly during the school year.


The Journal covers campus and city news across sections like arts, sports, culture, and other areas of interest, while fostering journalistic skills and community engagement. They are looking for two passionate, team oriented interns to explore journalism through writing, reporting, and attending weekly editorial board meetings. You will contribute to various sections, supporting outreach efforts, and help keep students informed and connected.

Social Issues (Internal) Intern
As Commissioner of Social Issues (Internal), Edward Sy focuses on equity training, AMS policy review, and institutional advocacy. Through events, education and policy work, Edward supports the AMS’s commitment to Indigenization, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Anti-Racism, and Accessibility across campus. Edward is looking for a responsible, collaborative intern to help organize events, facilitate the equity Library, review club equity certificate applications, and develop educational materials. The intern may also conduct research to support long-term advocacy initiatives.

Social Issues (External) Intern
As Commissioner of Social Issues (External), Mujeedat Lekuti leads community events, outreach, and public-facing initiatives that promote equity and inclusion at Queen’s. Her work contributes to the AMS commitment to Indigenization, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Anti-Racism, and Accessibility through various events, education and policy work. Mujeedat is looking for a passionate, communicative intern to support event planning and promotion, coordinate outreach, assist with the equity library, and contribute to educational materials on equity-related topics. The intern may also assist in research and brainstorming for new initiatives and campaigns.

Society 58 Intern
As Head Manager of Tricolour Outlet, Tatyana Grandmaitre oversees the AMS’s campus merchandise service, which offers Queen’s-branded clothing and accessories to promote school spirit. The outlet blends retail operations with creative marketing, graphic design, and customer engagement, giving students hands-on experience in service management. Tatyana is looking for an enthusiastic, self-driven intern to work across portfolios, including design, marketing, and client support. The intern will also take on a personal project, with guidance from the Head Manager and Logistics & Staff Relations Manager, to help shape Tricolour’s connection to the student community.
