The Results Are In: AMS Winter Elections 2026

The results of the 2026 AMS Executive Elections and Winter Referendum are now official. Following three days of voting from January 28-30, Queen’s undergraduate students have selected the leaders who will represent them during the 2026/27 academic year. Meet team D.A.E.!
A total of 3,319 students voted, representing a 16.1% voter turnout.
Executive Election Results
AMS President
In the first round of voting, Dreyden George was elected AMS President after receiving a majority of votes.
- Dreyden George: 1,178 votes (51.2%)
- Alex McArthur: 949 votes (41.3%)
Dreyden ran on a platform focused on the A.T.E. framework: affordability, transparency, and engagement, drawing on extensive experience in AMS governance and student advocacy. His election followed a campaign that emphasized results-driven leadership and addressing top student concerns such as housing, food costs, transit, and financial accessibility.
Vice President of Operations
Avery Papoulidis was elected Vice President (of Operations) after running uncontested.Avery Papoulidis: 1,900 votes (86.2%)
Avery’s campaign emphasized equitable support for AMS services, transparent financial operations, and a more connected campus, via her experience in service management, community engagement, and mentorship-based leadership.
Vice President (University Affairs)
Edward Sy was elected Vice President (University Affairs) after running uncontested as well.
Edward Sy: 1,920 votes (85.9%)
Edward’s campaign was structured around his A.C.E. framework: Accountability, Community, and Efficiency. This ended up drawing in heavily on his experience in equity advocacy, residence life, and student-facing services.
What Comes Next
With the election results finalized, the newly elected AMS Executive team, D.A.E. will begin preparing for the 2026/27 academic year! Over the coming months, executives will transition into their roles, set priorities, and work with AMS Assembly, services, and campus partners to implement their platforms.
Final Thoughts
The 2026 AMS Elections highlighted a shared student interest in affordability, transparency, accountability, and connection. As the new executive team steps into office, students will have opportunities to stay involved through advocacy, feedback, and participation in AMS initiatives throughout the remainder of the year, as well as the following academic year.
