Honorary Life Membership
April 2025
On April 7, 2025, the AMS General Assembly unanimously voted to admit Lyn Parry as an Honorary Life Member of the Alma Mater Society.
Lyn has served the AMS with exceptional dedication—first as Controller, and then as General Manager. Over the course of 13 years, she has offered steadfast support to AMS executives and student leaders, working largely behind the scenes to ensure the organization’s stability and success.
While many students may not have had the opportunity to work with Lyn directly, her impact is felt across every corner of the AMS. Her quiet leadership, institutional knowledge, and deep care for the Society have shaped and sustained the AMS through the past decade, but especially through the JDUC negotiations, Student Choice Initiative, and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Honorary Life Membership is granted to individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the Alma Mater Society and demonstrated an unparalleled dedication in supporting AMS members. This award is granted to recognize individuals who have shown a high level of passion for students, the overall student experience and student life on- campus. This award is the highest tribute that the Alma Mater Society can offer any individual. Honorary Life Members are granted the ability to attend Assembly and Annual General Meetings, to move or second motions, and to speak to any motion on the floor.
We are grateful to Lyn for her unwavering service to the AMS, her commitment to its mission, and most importantly, her belief in student leadership. Her personal contributions and relationships have helped shape the culture and identity of the AMS.
As Lyn embarks on a well-earned retirement, we extend our warmest wishes for a relaxing and fulfilling new chapter—one filled with all the joys she has been looking forward to.
It has truly been an honor to work alongside Lyn. We will always cherish the time spent in her office—the meetings, the laughter, and the moments of genuine care.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
With endless gratitude,
Owen Rocchi, AMS President
Ruth Osunde, Vice-President of University Affairs
Ayan Chowdhury, Vice-President of Operations
Sylvie Garabedian, Secretary of Internal Affairs
