Have Fun Without The Fines!

Picture this: you’re having a blast with your friends, and the school spirit is ever-present! You’re cranking the tunes, conversing with your fellow classmates, enjoying a cold one… only to be met with sirens and a hefty fine. How can we avoid this you ask? Great question! Let me fill you in on how we can all keep the peaceful, chill vibes within our community (and wallets) this season.
What NOT To Do:
- Having open alcohol in a public place
- Being intoxicated in a public place
- Underage drinking
- Entering roof tops, hanging off power lines
- Stealing street signs
- Distributing alcohol from a residence
- Damage to public or private property
- Public urination
- Amplification of sound
- Refusing to provide a name or providing a false name
- Fireworks
- Throwing projectiles at anyone, including emergency service workers
- Public fights/assaultive or violent behaviour
- Fail to leave a premise/area when directed to do so (Nuisance Party)
Smart and Safe Partying- What You CAN DO:
- Host smaller house parties (too many people = out of control)
- Stay off the streets, keep it indoors!
- Keep the music at a respectful volume
- Have a designated sober host to watch for over-intoxicated guests
- Keep your alcohol indoors or in private spaces, and don’t distribute your alcohol to others (this can be seen as unlicensed serving)
- Respect your neighbors! Don’t litter or destroy property
- If the police declare your party as a nuisance party, everyone can be fined. A nuisance party includes large crowds, public intoxication, loud music, and damage to property. Keep these signs in mind, and keep it safe!
- Plan for a safe way home, remember that we were built to fall apart. So have a designated driver, plan to take an uber, or make use of our Walkhome service!
Happy trouble-free celebrating!
