Meet Ashlyn Acorn: Common Ground Coffeehouse Head Manager
Meet Ashlyn Acorn, your new CoGro Head Manager! She is in her 4th year of Health Sciences, and she is more than ready to take on the world, one coffee at a time! Happy and confident, she will always be at the CoGro counter ready to take your order! But wait, that’s not all she does. As the Head Manager, she oversees the daily operations of CoGro and her little sister, The Brew. She works on big projects alongside the four assistant managers, and she manages their portfolios into one larger portfolio. And she does it all with a big smile on her face!
When asked why she made the decision to become Head Manager, she expressed her deep love for CoGro. “I just wanted to continue to make CoGro the special place that it has been for the last 24 years,” she says, smiling ear to ear. With the outgoing Head Manger, Alex MacKinnon, leaving, she felt that this was a wonderful opportunity to challenge herself.
This will be Ashlyn’s not first, not second, but third year working at CoGro. She started as service staff and later moved up to supervisor. But she didn’t stop there! No, not at all! She worked as the purchasing assistant manager, and she is now stepping into the role of head manager. She has dedicated almost her entire university career to this wonderful establishment, and she continues to do so now. There is truly no one else better for the job but Ashlyn Acorn!
When asked about where she can be found outside of work and school, she expressed some of her favourite hobbies. She adores both cooking and baking, not surprising considering her role! She can also be found down by the water, pier, or downtown, taking nice long walks. Especially in the summer! She loves to read romance books and enjoys reading those books on the beach.

What is Ashlyn’s go-to Common Ground Coffee House order?
Ashlyn can’t start her day without an iced latte with brown sugar syrup. It is her favourite drink, and she can’t imagine doing all she does without it. She also loves to grab a bite of a cheddar bagel, double toasted, with top secret cream cheese, turkey, and cucumber. It’s a dream combo!
An ongoing project Ashlyn is really excited about is The Brew! We asked her what she was most looking forward to, and she didn’t even hesitate! “Definitely opening the brew” she exclaims. She explains that MacKinnon did a lot of work this past summer, and the past several Head Managers have been very involved in the rebranding and the reopening of the brew as well. “I get to be the one to kind of carry it out!” she says excitedly.
