The AMS International Affairs Centre houses the International Student Mentorship Program, hosts events, and provides resources to support and engage international students at Queen’s.
The AMS International Affairs Centre is dedicated to supporting and empowering international students throughout their journey at Queen’s University. We offer a range of services and programs designed to foster community, ease the transition to life in Canada, and ensure students feel seen, supported, and celebrated.
Our office houses the International Student Mentorship Program, which pairs incoming students with trained upper-year mentors to provide peer support, cultural guidance, and a friendly connection from day one. We also organize events throughout the year that celebrate global cultures, create space for dialogue, and build meaningful connections across communities.
In addition, we provide accessible resources and information to help students navigate academics, student life, and living in Kingston. Whether it’s through one-on-one support, collaborations with campus partners, or student-led initiatives, the AMS International Affairs Centre works to make Queen’s a more inclusive and welcoming place for all international students.
All incoming international students are welcome to sign up as mentees. Upper-year students (both international and domestic) can apply to be mentors through our recruitment process.
We host a wide range of events including cultural celebrations, community dinners, academic support workshops, panel discussions, and social mixers. Our events are designed to foster connection, inclusion, and cross-cultural exchange.
Not at all! While our programming is designed with international students in mind, many of our events and initiatives are open to all Queen’s students. We encourage domestic and exchange students to get involved too.
You can visit our office in the AMS or access resources online through our website and social media channels. We also work closely with campus partners to connect students with relevant services around Queen’s and Kingston.
In addition to events and mentorship, we provide tailored guidance on navigating student life in Canada, advocate for international student needs, and connect students with academic, wellness, and legal resources on and off campus.
