SUMMARY:Queen's Startup Summit
DESCRIPTION:Queen’s Startup Summit was founded in 2013 by a multidisciplinary group of students and the Queen’s Innovation Connector with the goal of helping students break into the field of entrepreneurship. The hardest step for eager students with brilliant and innovative ideas is always knowing where to start. Through the Summit’s engaging speakers\, activities\, and mentorship from various experienced industry guests\, we offer undergraduate delegates the resources and expertise to bring those ideas to life while competing to win prize money.The Summit is a fast-paced 3-day competition in which delegates work in teams to develop their brilliant ideas into real ventures\, incorporating aspects of design\, technology and science. On the first day of the Summit\, delegates will hear from keynote speakers\, engage with a speaker panel\, network\, and participate in lightning pitch competitions. On the second day\, delegates will receive a choice between 3 prompts and subsequently have 24 hours to create and submit a unique pitch and business proposal. On the same day\, teams will receive a startup workshop and mentorship sessions. On the final day\, eight selected teams will present in front of all delegates and a judge panel consisting of experienced industry guests. The night ends with the announcement of winners during closing remarks. The top three teams will each receive a monetary prize and all teams will receive feedback on their submissions. A select number of delegates will have the opportunity to connect with industry professionals through coffee chats.
