SUMMARY:Queen's Players 2022 Winter Show
DESCRIPTION:One of Queen’s oldest organizations\, Queen’s Players puts on three sketch comedy/musical shows a year to raise money for local causes in Kingston. This show normally takes place in The Mansion and is a ~2.5 hour show that involves a cast\, production team\, band\, board\, and our audience. This show has three major components: singing\, dancing\, and acting. Cast members will perform as popular culture characters in sketch comedy scenes that they have collaboratively written and will dance and sing between scenes.

DESCRIPTION:Do you feel discontent with the current housing situation in Kingston? Are you passionate about student involvement on campus? Or is food insecurity important to you? \nCome join us in the AMS’s inaugural Student Advocacy Symposium on March 29 between 4 – 6 PM. The purpose of the Student Advocacy Symposium is to evoke a sense of rumination about the fast-paced\, ever-changing school year as it relates to new policies at this institution. We hope to spark dialogue between students by facilitating an open space discussion to gather feedback for data driven decision-making to inform policy and enact change. Its vision consists of three basic pillars: turning the ideas of students into future action; using data analysis to create a better AMS where students feel they have a voice and are being heard; and finding out directly from students about what issues matter most to them\, through a more open approach. \nThis year the three topics we want to focus on include housing\, student engagement and food insecurity. \nWith some amazing speakers\, snacks\, prizes and passionate students like you\, we hope the conversations will positively impact the lives of students next year and onwards. DESCRIPTION:Through its student-led advisory services\, QPCG acts as one of the primary touch-points between the Queen’s community and many of North America’s leading venture capital shops\, pension funds\, and private equity firms. Principal clients of QPCG have a combined AUM of ~$210Bn CAD\, including Onex Partners\, CPP Investments\, Altas Partners\, OMERS Ventures\, R13 Capital\, and others.Our pro-bono advisory model allows students to execute value-adding work on behalf of private capital firms while gaining a deep understanding of private financial markets.At the end of each semester\, QPCG meets with clients in Toronto to share key findings from our advisory work with the senior leadership of our client firms in an in-person setting. The in-person nature of these meetings was revived post-COVID in spring 2022\, allowing for deeper learning for members\, and networking opportunities with clients and alumni. In addition\, we will be hosting firm tours\, panels\, workshops\, and events for ~50 people in a conference-style event.

SUMMARY:Queen's Relay for Life Event Day
DESCRIPTION:The event is open to all members of the Queen’s and Kingston communities\, specifically targeting students\, faculty\, and staff members. Attendance at the event requires attendance in advance\, through the Canadian Cancer Society’s portal at (https://relayforlife.ca/queensu). Upon arrival at the event\, there will be a formal registration process that includes verifying the participant’s identity and issuing an identifying wristband. The event opens to participants for registration at 6:00 PM on Friday March 31st. The event runs through the evening and morning and will conclude with our closing ceremony at 6:30 AM on Saturday April 1st. Activities include Zumba\, live music\, food service\, auction\, raffle\, sports\, movies\, crafts\, ceremonies\, leg waxing\, haircutting\, and more. We will be hosting community partners for many of these events. Main guided activities for participants include the opening ceremony\, dinner service\, luminary ceremony\, breakfast service\, and closing ceremony.

DESCRIPTION:The Gutsy Walk is an annual event held by the national Crohn’s and Colitis Canada foundation and as a Queen’s chapter\, we hope to hold our own Gutsy Walk for Queen’s students. This event is meant to raise awareness and fundraise for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis\, which are health conditions that significantly impact quality of life. All students are welcome to walk any distance they are comfortable with (typically 5 km) and the event also aims to build community within those who have IBD and/or anyone who has close relations with someone who does.

DESCRIPTION:Queen’s University Chorus is a student-run\, non-for-profit\, non-audition chorus. Every semester we have a recital where members can show Queen’s students and faculty\, friends and family\, and Kingston community members what they have worked on during the semester. This event is open to anyone and is inclusive and safe.

SUMMARY:"Hiel in the Clouds"
DESCRIPTION:Our Hiel Fellowship Formal is an annual event that has happened in the winter semester as a way to conclude the academic year\, provide a fun opportunity for students to build new relationships\, meet with close friends and a way for us to allow students to conclude and take a break from academic stress. Another purpose of this event is to formally introduce our next executive members for the 2023-2024 year. Given that the club is renewed every semester / year\, this is known as the perfect place and time to introduce the new exec team. At this event\, we also show videos of the past year to recollect and renew cherished memories our club members have shared together through the projector\, do short trivia games and have prizes at the end of the event. We are delighted to have this event re-opened and hopefully annually in the next coming years.
