SUMMARY:QUBT Stem Cell Promotion Booth
DESCRIPTION:We will be conducting a stem cell registration event at a table in the ARC. This would involve providing the Canadian Blood Services approved stem cell registration kits to interested individuals who can then take them home to complete. The actual process of registration involves completing a cheek swab with a soft Q tip like material and is non invasive. We will also provide a raffle sign up sheet for individuals to win various gift cards if they take the time to speak with us. Participants do not have to complete a stem cell registration kit to sign up for the raffle as there is no coercion allowed to be involved in obtaining stem cell donors. The focus of the event will be largely promotional\, focusing on education on the importance of stem cell and blood donation as well as providing information on QUBT’s activities and mission.

SUMMARY:Queen's University Dance Marathon
DESCRIPTION:Dance Marathon is a student-led movement raising money for the children’s hospital in the community. We fundraise all year and all proceeds go to the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). This event is a 5-hour event of fun activities\, games\, and dances that members from our school community and extended members from the Kingston area (friends and family of club members\, etc.) attend. Additionally\, previous patients from the children’s hospital come to tell their stories and we do a fundraising reveal at the end of all the money we raised throughout the year. \nLocation: Gym 3 – Bartlett Gym Located on Level 2 of Mitchell Hall in ARC South

SUMMARY:Student Advocacy Symposium
DESCRIPTION:Do you feel discontent with the current housing situation in Kingston? Are you passionate about student involvement on campus? Or is food insecurity important to you? \nCome join us in the AMS’s inaugural Student Advocacy Symposium on March 29 between 4 – 6 PM. The purpose of the Student Advocacy Symposium is to evoke a sense of rumination about the fast-paced\, ever-changing school year as it relates to new policies at this institution. We hope to spark dialogue between students by facilitating an open space discussion to gather feedback for data driven decision-making to inform policy and enact change. Its vision consists of three basic pillars: turning the ideas of students into future action; using data analysis to create a better AMS where students feel they have a voice and are being heard; and finding out directly from students about what issues matter most to them\, through a more open approach. \nThis year the three topics we want to focus on include housing\, student engagement and food insecurity. \nWith some amazing speakers\, snacks\, prizes and passionate students like you\, we hope the conversations will positively impact the lives of students next year and onwards. We are looking for 25-30 students to join us. All participants will receive a  $10 gift card for participating. Those selected will be sent a separate email closer to the date! First come first serve! \nPlease use this link to sign up and to indicate whether you will be attending in-person or virtually. \nCan’t wait to see you there!
