Queen’s Sustainability (QS)
Queen’s Sustainability primary responsibility is to relate and discuss sustainability and environmental initiatives to Queen’s campus. This committee will be working on monthly publications that advertise green events on campus as well as doing follow up studies on the Campus Sustainability Assessment Framework (CSAF) Project outlined by the Sierra Youth Coalition. The committee is devoted to publishing information regarding sustainability and making this information accessible for students.

Campus Environmental Challenge:

Create a written proposal to address an environmental
problem on Queen’s campus
·
Detail why the issue is important and why it should be
fixed
·
Outline a strategy on how to implement a realistic
solution to the problem
· Maximum 500 words
· Professor input and group proposals encouraged (5 students per group)
Be sure to attach a primary
contact email to receive feedback on your proposal status!
The winner will be chosen based on the following questions:
Is the solution feasible
to implement?
Does the problem apply to
Queen’s campus?
Is the proposal
comprehensive and original?
Is the strategy
realistic?
Proposal deadline is December 1st

best proposal will be announced in January 2008 and awarded a $500 cash prize.

Committee Member
QS is looking for highly motivated committee members this fall. You will have the opportunity to be involved with the inception, planning, and execution of events, campaigns, and lobbying and be involved in the running of the committee. This is a great chance to gain leadership experience, meet and work with other people interested in the environment and sustainability, and to make a real difference at Queen’s and in Kingston.

Committee Volunteer
Are you interested in sustainability issues? QS is inviting anyone interested to get involved! As a volunteer, you can have as much or as little input as you like. We need as many people as possible to help us complete the Campus Sustainability Assessment! People are needed for all sorts of activities, such as on-campus research and fact-finding, data analysis and interpretation, report compilation and publication, and publicity. There really is a position for everyone at QS. The committee is a great chance to meet interesting people, get great experience by helping plan and carry out the club’s initiatives, and to help Queen’s become a more sustainable place.
