HUMAN RIGHTS

 Committee Against Racial and Ethnic Discrimination (CARED)

This Committee provides both education for CARED members and the Queen's community, and advocacy on issues pertaining to the experiences of racial and ethnic minorities. CARED strives to provide a forum for individuals to discuss issues surrounding racism and intolerance. The Committee hope to place special focus this year on issues such as religious tolerance.

Students Against Poverty (SAP)

The focus of Students Against Poverty (SAP) is to increase awareness and explore low-income realities both within and outside of Queen's. The committee also works to explore issues of systemic discrimination, student poverty and the accessibility of food banks in the Kingston Community.

Gender and Women's Issues Committee (GWIC)

The Gender and Women's Issues Committee (GWIC) is committed to raising awareness about women's issues and lobbying for equality. The group works to provide a safe space for discussion and support and runs many educational campaigns, including one recently about the prevalence of Sexual Assault on campus.

Accessibility Queen's (AQ)

Accessibility Queen's (AQ) works to improve accessibility on campus by raising awareness about the challenges students with disabilities encounter daily. The committee's goal is to fund and support new and continuing initiatives at Queen's that improve physical, academic and social accessibility for Queen's students. The commmittee offers support to students with disabilities, and provides a voice to ALL students concerned with accessibility.
