Welcome to the SIC! The AMS Social Issues Commission seeks to represent the diversity of students at Queen's through anti-oppression activism and by taking a proactive approach to fostering a positive environment on campus for all students to celebrate and utilize our individuality. As advocates for social change, we seek to provide students with a greater understanding of social issues through awareness-raising campaigns and events. The commission is comprised of eight committees and four publications, run by more than two hundred volunteers that address a wide range of social issues. The commission is a welcoming and safe place for all members of the community. Please contact us for volunteer opportunities as we have many committee member spots open for fall hiring. We would love to have you involved with what we do! Including: Accessibility Queen's, the Committee Against Racial and Ethnic Discrimination, Mental Health Awareness Committee, Project Outreach for Secondary School Education, Students Against Poverty, and the Gender and Women's Issues Committee. The SIC also produces four annual publications: cultureShock, OutWrite, Headsup!, and the Queen's Feminist Review.
