 Privacy Statement

The Alma Mater Society (AMS) of Queen’s University is committed to protecting the privacy and confidence of the personal information entrusted to our care through the QBAC.

We understand that personal information, that is; name, student number, birth date, degree program and academic concentration, club involvement, organization participation, and service employment, and email address collected and/or compiled through the QBAC, may only be used as follows:

Alma Mater Society use may include statistical analysis of club involvement, club enrollment lists, volunteer database, statistical analysis of volunteers within the AMS, services database, archival uses, fundraising efforts and mentorship opportunities (questions or require additional information, please contact the AMS Information Officer at (613-533-2730).

The Advancement Office use may include student and alumni relation programs such as student/alumni mentoring, jobs mentoring and student send-offs, receiving the alumni magazine, invitations to Alumni weekend and Alumni branch events, and information on (questions or require additional information? please contact the Advancement Business Office at 613-533-6000 Ext. 75623).

We agree to take reasonable security precautions to protect the confidentiality and physical security of this personal information and the privacy of those to whom it pertains.  We undertake to ensure that only those employees or agents of our organization who need the personal information in order to perform their duties will be given access to the information. Personal information will not be, disclosed, transferred, duplicated, recorded, or sold except in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario.

The internet is not a totally secure medium.  The AMS does not guarantee that its security measures will always be totally effective.

The Alma Mater Society of Queen’s University treats personal information in accordance with the Federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the Ontario Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) as applicable.
