The AMS Pub Services raise over $2000 for Movember

December 02, 2011

KINGSTON, ON – The Alma Mater Society (AMS) is proud to announce that staff at The AMS Pub Services (TAPS) have raised over $2000 for Movember, a mustache-growing charity event aimed at raising awareness and funds for issues of men’s health, specifically prostate cancer.

On November 30th, patrons of Queen’s Pub were also able to donate $1 to Movember for the chance to win Alfie’s Classic Rock line skips. Daryoush Moezzi, TAPS Marketing Assistant Manager, organized a Movember Team for TAPS staff. With 11 members on the team, they raised $2070 in pledged funds as of December 1st.

“Everyone at TAPS really showed their genuine care for the charity,” says Moezzi. “Raising this much money would not have been possible without their hard work and generous donations of both staff and patrons. I’m really proud to work such a generous service with so many caring people.”

In addition, TAPS organized a “Mo’ Lounge” at Alfie’s on November 28th. Patrons and bartends could be seen sporting fake mustaches, eating mustache-shaped cookies, and wearing sashes declaring people “Miss Movember” or “Man of the Mustache”, all provided by the national Movember campaign.
