The AMS Pub Services raise over $1300 for Queen’s Health Outreach

February 01, 2012

KINGSTON, ON – The AMS Pub Services (TAPS) has raised $1370 for Queen’s Health Outreach (QHO). Throughout the month of January, donation boxes were set up at the Queen’s Pub where patrons could donate and be entered for a chance to win Alfie’s lineskips. On Thursday January 26th, QP and QHO came together for a full day event called “QP for QHO” where staff donated their tips earned that day towards QHO. This event proved to be very successful and raised a total of $1334 for the organization.

TAPS has taken the initiative to adopt a charity for each month and to support it by raising money and awareness. For the month of January, Queen’s Health Outreach (QHO) was selected. Queen’s Health Outreach is an entirely student-run NGO dedicated to promoting health through needs-based peer education initiatives both locally and internationally. Ellie MacBain, a QHO member as well as a TAPS staff, brought this initiative forward to TAPS management.

“I was overwhelmed with the generosity of my coworkers and members of the Queen’s community who worked and came into the Queen’s Pub,” says MacBain. “Many people with no affiliation with QHO still chose to donate their tips, it was amazing!”

TAPS looks forward to working with more groups on campus to help raise awareness and money for their deserving projects.
