February 21, 2013
The Alma Mater Society regrets to inform its members that a student from the Queen’s community has passed away.
Second-year student Kevin Cournoyer, 20, of Winnipeg, was a student in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science and a resident of Harkness International Hall. He passed away on Wednesday, Febraury 20th. The cause of death is under investigation. We send our deepest sympathies to Kevin’s family, friends, classmates, and all those affected by this tragic loss.
A private family service will be held, and a celebration of life will take place at a later date. Flags will be lowered on campus and AMS Assembly will observe a moment of silence in Kevin’s memory at the next assembly.
The AMS strongly encourages students experiencing any grief or distress to seek help from friends, family and support services. The University’s Health, Counselling and Disability Services is providing counseling. Students can contact HCDS at 613-533-6000 ext. 78264 or go to the LaSalle Building at 146 Stuart Street.
