CFRC 101.9fm presents its 7th annual Funding Drive, February 10-19

KINGSTON, ON - CFRC is the oldest campus-based station in Canada, celebrating 90 years on the airwaves in 2012. As a not-for-profit and volunteer-programmed local media outlet, CFRC delivers alternative, diverse music and spoken word programming, over the air at 101.9fm and on-line at http://CFRC.ca. CFRC offers volunteers free broadcast skills training and experience. The station also organizes community events throughout the year, promoting local music, experimental sound art, independent journalism and grassroots audio production.
CFRC relies on listener support for almost 20% of its operating revenue. The goal for this year's Funding Drive is $25,000, to be raised across 10 days of special programming and exciting community events. Highlights of this year's campaign include:
Friday, February 10: Slow Dance at the Renaissance, 285 Queen, with DJs Haircut and LK. 9pm-2am, $8-10.
Monday, February 13: World Radio Day launch of audio documentaries by Vee Blackbourn and Usman Mushtaq with Ekta Singh at the Screening Room, 120 Princess. 6:30pm. Free.
Thursday, February 16: Fundraising concert at the Mansion, 506 Princess, featuring CFRC alumni artists Matthew Barber, Old Haunt and Decomposing Pianos. Doors open at 9pm, $10-15.
Friday, February 17: CFRC DJ night at the Grad Club, 162 Barrie. 8pm-12am, Free.
Sunday, February 19: Skating in Market Square with CFRC DJs. 12-5pm, Free.
