Food Bank Mission Statement:

To provide members of the Queen’s community who are in need with a confidential food service in the most comfortable environment possible.

The AMS Food Bank is a valuable service that has helped meet the needs of students since 1997. We recognize that the high cost of pursuing post-secondary education often leads many students to experience financial insecurity. No student should have to sacrifice their health for academic achievement; indeed, a healthy mind and body are important to academic success!

Food Bank Policy:

  • We require to see a validation sticker for the current school year for each visit
  • We serve members of the Alma Mater Society, Society of Graduate and Professional Students, and International Students
  • We ensure the utmost confidentiality of our customers

Food Bank Operations

Currently we operate on a “first-come, first-served” basis.

Since we rely on donations to stock our shelves, we reserve the right to limit the number of items you can take, so that our supply can serve all students who are in need.

Thank you for your understanding.

Guiding Principles

Confidentiality

The Food Bank will honour the confidentiality of our customers to ensure utmost privacy, respect and security.

Reliability

The Food Bank will work to provide a service that customers can depend on for consistent food supply during reliable and convenient operating hours.

Support

The Food Bank will strive to provide as much support to students in achieving their full potential. This includes providing the resources, contacts, and information to other social services for supplementary needs, such as health, safety and financial aid.

Advocacy

The Food Bank believes that health and security are fundamental rights for all students, therefore we will strive to voice student concerns and advocate for issues of social justice.
