Your Rights

Every student who is compelled to appear before the AMS Judicial Committee is entitled to fair consideration and due process. The rights of respondents include:

  • Right to the notice of a hearing
  • Right to the discovery of evidence and information
  • Right to know the nature of the hearing (oral or written) in advance of the proceedings
  • Right to representation
  • Right to an interpreter
  • Right to present evidence and arguments
  • Right to request an adjournment due to extenuating circumstances
  • Right to have a matter decided based on the evidence/arguments presented at hearing
  • Right to reasoning
