The Commission of Internal Affairs (CIA) oversees matters concerning AMS Assembly (the highest legislative student body at Queen’s), the AMS Judicial Committee (the student administered non-academic discipline tribunal), elections and referenda, and the administration of nearly 200 AMS-affiliated clubs and extracurricular organizations. Whenever you cast a ballot, visit Clubs Nights, or drop by the McLaughlin Room of the JDUC on various Thursday nights to catch an Assembly meeting, you are witnessing the CIA in action. Deputy Commissioner

The Deputy Commissioner chairs Deputy Council, both Assembly Grants & Clubs Grants Committees, works closely with the Clubs Managers on club administration and also oversees the Human Resource Management for the Commission.
Chief Electoral Officer & Speaker of AMS Assembly

The CEO and the current Speaker of Assembly is responsible for any and all AMS elections and referenda campaigning expenses and disputes.
Assembly Scribe
The Scribe attends Assembly meetings and takes minutes for the student body. The scribe keeps the AMS accountable to students and provides a place to gather questions and discussion topics for debate.
CIA Interns

The Interns have the opportunity to participate in several if not all areas of the CIA. The Interns works closely with other volunteers to help administer clubs, run elections and aid the Prosecutor's Office. The Interns also specialize in certain areas and develop special projects that will benefit the commission.
This Year, David is helping develop a new survey for the Elections Team that will help improve future elections and Matthew is researching other club systems to help enhance our committment and quality of clubs at Queens.

The Returning Officers are responsible for the administration of all Society elections and referenda. They run debates, plan the polling stations, organize promotional material and oversee every aspect of the elections. Recent developments include the introduction of preferential balloting and making voting available to students on exchange or at the Castle.

The committee plans and runs Clubs Night and oversees all the clubs affiliated with the AMS. They also run two Focus Sessions which help clubs find the necessary resources to be successful and offer grants and financial support.

AMS Judicial Committee exercises authority over all matters of non-academic discipline involving inappropriate behavior of undergraduate students within its jurisdiction as set out in the AMS Constitution and Senate Statement on Discipline.
