Primarily an events-based commission, responsible for organizing all of the special events that make university life so memorable, the Campus Activities Commission is incredibly active at Queen’s. It’s a great place to get involved with social activities, volunteer and leadership opportunities at Queens.

Exposure is an annual, non-profit arts festival that is devoted to enriching Queen’s students’ university experience through music, fine art, literature, dance, and drama. This festival is an interactive event that encourages students to explore creativity, through the creation of their own art, and through experiencing the art of others. Exposure events are open to audiences of all ages, from both the Queen’s and Kingston communities. For the duration of the festival, the University campus is transformed into a venue of artistic expression; works of art including sculptures, paintings, multi-media, literature, and film will be prominently displayed. A variety of performances will also take place in various venues across the university grounds.

From January 16-19th, 2008, 350 Queen's University students will travel to Ottawa to experience Queen's Model Parliament, one of the most popular campus activities organized by the Alma Mater Society. This will be our 61th annual Model Parliament and the 14th year in which we will hold our debates in the House of Commons, thanks to the generosity of the Hon. Peter Milliken, our Member of Parliament and the Speaker of the House. QMP offers something for students of all faculties and years. Whether registered as party members or journalists, attendees bring a wide range of interests to the event. Following each day's debate, delegates participate in the all-ages social events for which QMP is renowned: a wine and cheese sponsored hosted by Speaker Milliken, a keg party in the Centre Block of Parliament Hill, nights out in downtown Ottawa, and a semi-formal closing banquet.

Queen’s Model United Nations (QMUN) is Canada’s outstanding small collegiate United Nations simulation and is an annual event held at Queen’s university From November 15-18, 2007, Queen’s University will be holding a Model United Nations Conference that will bring together like-minded, internationally concerned students from across Canada. They will discuss international affairs, propose solutions, listen to professionals in the field of international relations, and address pertinent international issues that the world is faced with today. QMUN is an intimate conference. Many students come to QMUN as first time participants and the small committee sizes encourage them speak and learn the proper Model UN etiquette. Students are also able to get to know their fellow committee members well due to the small size, which makes for lasting friendships.

Charity Ball is the only all-year, all faculty formal event, and is a premier and treasured tradition at Queen’s. Charity Ball 2007 promises to be one of the most spectacular and enjoyable evenings at Queen’s University. The Charity Ball committee chooses one deserving local Kingston charity yearly for which they raise funds through campus events. Queen’s Charity Ball committee is unique in that it raises funds throughout the year, involves its members with the charity itself through volunteer hours, and unites students across all faculties and years for one common cause. The event itself takes place on the elegant and historic Queens campus. With the help our dedicated committee members and volunteers the space is transformed by beautiful decorations and a sit down dinner is served before a night of dancing. Presentations on the charity are made while students mingle and bid on fabulous prizes in the Silent Auction.

Catch Me If You Can is a game of skill, deception, and carefully planned navigation of campus. The premise of the game is intriguing. A student receives the name of their target in their email. He or she must then find this person and pin a clothes pin to their target. But finding the target on a busy campus is not an easy feat, especially when you know you are being pursued too! Every move you make may bring you face to face with your predator, leaving the safety zone of your classroom is a dangerous notion, you wear running shoes everywhere to make quick escapes from the cafeteria when you are being chased.

Imagine a regular, 2-team capture the flag game in a gym. Now, imagine it 50 times bigger, covering the entire Queen’s University campus and involving hundreds of students. This is Capture the Faculty. It is a campus-wide version of capture the flag that sets the faculties against each other in a competition to take over as many of the opposing teams’ flags as they can. The winning faculty receives a cash prize of $500 to donate to a charity of their choice.. Admission to the game includes a t-shirt and memories that will last a life time. Need updates on the game? Tune in LIVE on CFRC Radio 101.9 FM as the game takes over the entire campus.
Gael Force
The Queen’s University Golden Gaels athletic teams are renowned for their positive attitude and unrivalled school spirit. The Gael Force committee is a campus and Kingston wide initiative that seeks to increase spectator attendance at varsity athletic sporting events. In turn, we hope to provide a sense of community that will further invigorate school pride in Queen’s students. It is about supporting our fellow students; encouraging community members to come and be entertained by their hometown heroes; and turning games into high energy events. Our vision includes a sea of red, blue, and gold spectators cheering our fellow students and community members on to victory.

FYNIRS stands for First Year Not In Residence Students. It is often hard for students that live off campus to bond with other students in the same way students that live in residence bond with their floor mates. FYNIRS is a student run program that organizes events for these students to participate in to build a community of first years that also chose to not live in residence. The most important event that they run is the FYNIRS orientation that takes place two days before the faculty specific orientations take place. These two days are a chance for the students to get acclimated with campus, play games, tour the town, and get to know each other. Events continue throughout the year to help the student stay in touch and feel like a community at Queen’s. Additionally, the FYNIRS maintain their Lounge in MacBrown Hall on the Queen’s campus. This space serves as a home away from home for FYNIRS between their classes, as many FYNIRS do not live within walking distance. The friendships fostered by the program and the support that it provides for first year students is invaluable.
