GET EXCITED FOR THE BEST FORMAL OF THE YEAR!!!!!!!!!!

Charity Ball is the only all-year, all faculty formal event, and is a premier and treasured tradition at Queen’s. Charity Ball 2007 promises to be one of the most spectacular and enjoyable evenings at Queen’s University. The Charity Ball committee chooses one deserving local Kingston charity yearly for which they raise funds through campus events. This year the committee will be donating to Kingston youth shelter. Queen’s Charity Ball committee is unique in that it raises funds throughout the year, involves its members with the charity itself through volunteer hours, and unites students across all faculties and years for one common cause. The event itself takes place on the elegant and historic Queens campus. With the help our dedicated committee members and volunteers the space is transformed by beautiful decorations and a sit down dinner is served before a night of dancing. Presentations on the charity are made while students mingle and bid on fabulous prizes in the Silent Auction.

The charity that our committee has chosen for this coming year is the Kingston Youth Shelter. Some of the services it offers include: hot meals, place to sleep, safe environment, counseling, and life skills training. It proudly boasts to have provided over 16 000 nights of the street since 1999. It is in great need; however, of more funding and we are confident that we can impact the Kingston Youth Shelter in a big way. In addition to donating all of our proceeds from the year to this centre, each member of our committee will be volunteering at the shelter throughout the academic year in order to understand the needs of the charity more and to help out where possible.

Our major fundraiser Genie auction was a great success raising over $1800.

This year's Charity Ball will take place on November 24th! This event promises to be the best ever with the theme ‘A Black Orchid Affair. Mark your calendars today!!!
